Community-driven innovation for organic food

WINN-ORGANIC aims to encourage systemic change in organic food systems by involving communities, farmers, businesses, researchers, and decision-makers in innovation.

As part of the project, Organic Food Innovation Hubs (OFIH) will be established in seven European countries, serving as centers for innovation, shared learning, and collaboration. OMKI leads the Hungarian hub, participates in testing innovations, sharing knowledge, and connecting industry players, contributing to the development of the organic food system. The project involves actors across organic grain and legume value chains, including processors, public institutions, catering services, and consumers.

The solutions examined include:

  • An open and shared digital platform for optimizing supply and distribution

  • Extended reality and QR code-based information systems linked to the hub

  • sustainable hub model to ensure long-term operation

ÖMKi is involved in the following tasks:

The aim of the Hungarian OFIH is to ensure that these specific solutions improve the accessibility of diverse plant reproduction materials, increase their value, and support joint learning and cooperation among stakeholders in the sector.

OFIHs provide an opportunity to test and scale new solutions while strengthening the role of communities and supporting the spread of collaborative innovation across Europe.
